The structure can be found between the stratum spongiosum and the myometrium.
Stratum Basale – Anatomy
This layer of epidermis is constituted by a single row of columnar or cuboidal cells of epithelium. Half of all these epithelial cells continuously undergo division and replace the rest of the epidermis that is eroding. The rest of the cells differentiate and progress to the next epidermal layer to begin the process of maturation.
Stratum Basale - Function
This epidermal layer forms the superficial skin cover in animals. The process of mitosis or cell division occurs in this layer to replenish the cells of the skin.
Stratum Basale – Disorders and Problems
This layer of the epidermis might be associated with a variety of skin diseases, like basal cell tumors and Psoriasis.
