Mesometrium - DefinitionIt is the uterine mesentery in the female body. The term “mesentry” is used to indicate a dual peritoneal layer joining itself to the posterior abdominal cavity wall and acting as a support for the small intestines.
Mesometrium - LocationIt lies in a position adjacent to that of the Mesosalpinx. The broad ligament of the uterus, which it is a part of, actually lies beneath the Mesosalpinx.
Mesometrium - FunctionThis uterine section contains various vital structures of the human body, including the ureter. Apart from the sections adjacent to the uterine tube and the ovary (Mesosalpinx), it comprises of the major part of the broad ligament of the uterus.
